Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar
This is a vintage c. 1987 18K yellow gold Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar 3945/1. It's an early "First Series" and it includes an integral 18k yellow gold diagonally woven "beaded rice" bracelet with a deployment clasp (inspired by the chain mail of the Middle Ages) and scratch resistant sapphire crystals. It has a signed pull-out winding crown and a snap down solid case back with a thumb flip and the Patek Philippe International Customer Service sticker. There is a corrector in the left-side case band at 9 o'clock for the perpetual calendar and the 36mm diameter solid three-body case, welded lugs, and stepped bezel are polished. The silver dial has applied faceted "boat-shaped" gold baton hour indices around a perimeter gold pip minute scale. It has twin recessed white subsidiary dials with black Arabic numerals, markers, and gold/blued feuille indicator hands, including a combination day/24-hour register at 9 o'clock, and a combination radial month with a leap year sub dial is at the 3 o'clock position. There is a color moon phase subsidiary dial at 6 o'clock with a combined radial date indicator and a gold feuille leaf hand. It has a 48-hour power reserve at full wind, it’s water resistant to 25 meters/80 feet, and the 9mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.
This Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar 3945/1 has a mechanical automatic Patek Philippe caliber 240 Q movement. It’s rhodium plated with Cotes de Geneve and perlage embellishment, and It has the quality seal of Geneva. It's constructed with 27 jewels, 275 components, and a lateral lever escapement with three arms under a polished steel bridge. It includes a 22K winding micro rotor with the Patek Philipppe Calatrava symbol, and a patented Patek Philippe Gyromax balance that adjusts for cold, heat, isochronism and 5 positions. It includes a shock absorber mechanism, an index regulator, and a self-compensating free-sprung Breguet balance spring. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz).
The Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar 3945/1 was introduced in the 1980's.
